Bharat (India) is hosting G20 summit 2023

G20 or Group of Twenty - is a club of countries that meets to discuss global economic and political issues. Between them, G20 countries account for 85% of the world's economic output and more than 75% of world trade. They contain two-thirds of global population.


History of G20: The G20 Summit was established in 1999 in response to the financial crises of the late 1990s, particularly the Asian financial crisis. Initially, the G20 meetings were focused on finance ministers and central bank governors, not heads of state or government. The early meetings mainly revolved around discussions on global financial stability and policies.


Argentina played a significant role in early formation of G20

As of 2023, there are 20 members in the group: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and the African Union.

G-20 2023 summit In INDIA - The 2023 G20 New Delhi summit is the eighteenth meeting of G20

- a summit being held between 9 - 10 September 2023.

- Chaired by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

- It is taking place in Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

- It is the first G20 summit held in India as well as in South Asia.

- Motto: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam; (Sanskrit: वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्); (transl. One Earth, One Family, One Future)
